ABOUT ME

I grew up amidst the woods and lakes of Oakland County Michigan, and this definitely has influenced my sense of life.  Nature was my playground as a child, and I retain a fascination and appreciation for the beauty and order of nature.

Perhaps it was an equally early and abiding love of books that led me to think about human nature, our place in the scheme of things, and what we should do about it.  This, in turn, persuaded me to pursue a degree in philosophy and want to write about it.

The two worked their way out as droppping out of graduate school and getting a job as music critic and arts writer for the Lansing State Journal. Eschewing this after a few years for freelance writing, I have published many articles, essays reviews, poems, and so on.  I also produced the books listed here, as well as more texts that have yet to see print, but ultimately will.

Eventually, as well, I earned a master's degree in English and have taught writing, reading, and philosophy as a middle school teacher and a college instructor.

My philosopy has evolved over time but has never substantially altered from what I characterize as libertarian humanism.  That is, I am for freedom and I am for people.  A concise formulation of this will appear here soon as Ten Ethical Principles of Libertarian Humanism.
